About Sensory Adventures
Learning through play, made simple.
Sensory Adventures creates calming, engaging Busy Boxes filled with hands-on activities to support children’s development — especially those with SEND or sensory needs. Each box is designed by an experienced SEN professional and parent, combining classroom expertise with real-life parenting insight.
Our mission is to make learning feel accessible, joyful, and screen-free. Whether at home, in the classroom, or on the go, our resources help build fine motor skills, focus, creativity, and independence — all through play.
Tried, tested, and loved by families, teachers, and therapists alike.
My Story
Hi, I’m Helena — a mum of two, wife, and specialist teaching assistant with over 15 years of experience supporting children with additional needs.
Sensory Adventures began as something simple: a way to help my own children learn and play in a way that felt calm, engaging, and right for them. Like many parents of neurodivergent children, my husband and I often felt overwhelmed and unsure — just trying to do our best. I started putting together sensory activities that helped my son stay focused and relaxed, especially during times that could easily become stressful.
One moment that sticks with me is when I used one of my homemade Busy Boxes to keep my son occupied while my daughter was at gymnastics. Other parents saw how focused and settled he was — and they kept asking where I got it. Their encouragement, along with a little nudge from those closest to me, gave me the push I needed… and Sensory Adventures was born.
As an SEN professional, I knew I had the skills — but as a parent, I also knew the need. Every box is built with care, insight, and a whole lot of love — tried and tested by our own family first. I'm so proud to now share these tools with other families, teachers, and therapists who just want learning and play to feel a little easier, and a lot more joyful.
